Election 2020

Election 2020 is a song cycle Chris composed in fall 2020 that highlights his skills in a political setting and combines his characteristic sharp lyricism with his signature, balanced social commentary. Think of Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” in musical form.

The cycle's songs include:

The Fly In Mike Pence's Hair," a song about how, during the debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence, a fly that buzzed around the former Vice President's head became the most talked about moment.

Say It," a song about how, during a presidential debate, Trump did not denounce white supremacists when pressed to do so by both Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and then-Vice President Biden.

A Very Melania Christmas," a song about the public revelation that First Lady Melania Trump doesn't “give a f—" about Christmas and its decorations.

Joyride," a song about how, after he tested positive for COVID-19, Trump demanded the Secret Service take him on a ride past his supporters while he was hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Superspreader," a song about how when Trump returned to the campaign trail after contracting COVID-19, he required rally attendees to sign waivers stipulating he wasn’t responsible if they got sick afterwards.

LGBQIA," a song about how, when Tiffany Trump spoke at a Trump Pride event in Tampa, Florida, her speech notably omitted transgender people from the “LGBTQIA+” acronym.

Ghost Town," a spooky Halloween-themed song about how Trump, throughout the election, repeatedly claimed that New York City remained a ghost town after the pandemic.

Melania Wants Out," a satirical song about how American voters could help Melania, who looked despondent during campaign events alongside Trump, by voting for Biden to free her from her role as first lady.

Sound of Victory," a song about how after Biden defeated Trump in the election, Paula White (then chair of the evangelical advisory board in Trump’s first administration) led an impassioned prayer service calling upon “spirits” from Africa and South America to reverse the election's results.
