Dom Topp of the World
Created by Chris and inspired by his own experiences as a performer on cruise ships, this hilarious series is best described as Summer Heights High meets The Comeback.
The show follows Domenic Topp, an eccentric Australian backup dancer who once performed for pop superstars like Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, and the Jonas Brothers, but now finds himself working aboard a cruise ship circling the Hawaiian islands.
To him, it’s a step down.
Throughout the series, he grapples with his current status: is he a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in an even bigger pond (the ocean)? Using satire and sharp insights, Chris’s writing skillfully explores the absurdities of the cruise ship entertainment industry alongside themes of self-discovery, as Dom humorously navigates life with a colorful cast of fellow performers and ship crew.
The series delivers an insightful and realistic commentary on the challenge of reconciling who you once were with who you currently are. Above all, though, it’s fun. As Dom repeatedly reassures himself, “this is dancer life.”
